Flourishing Public Spheres
Sigla Research Center is a non-profit organization that fosters a collaborative environment for community-engaged action research. We envision Sigla as a space for mentoring, healing, burnout recovery, and convivial exchange among our members, partners, and students.
Who We Are
We are a collective of scholars and community organizers in the Global North and South, with our members in the Philippines having a proven record of collaborating with partners in the grassroots. With a majority of our members based in the Philippines, we undertake comparative research for/from the Majority World.
What We Do
Our work revolves around curating research and advocacy, as well as nurturing relationships with partners in civil society—giving voice to Global South experiences and solutions to local challenges. Our work sits at the intersection of political communication, deliberative democracy, tech ethics, and worker justice.
We support long-term educational interventions invested in empowering Filipino citizens to be responsible agents in the public sphere, rather than stifling their voices.
We advocate for policy solutions in the media, tech and democracy space that center the experiences of communities in the Majority World, understanding their current capacities and challenges and sensitive to their hopes and aspirations.
We believe in better ways of working, mentoring, and collaborating in our sectors, where passionate work should not come at the cost of individuals’ mental health and wellbeing. We want to support employees and partners in their personal and collective healing journeys.
